Stars under the Stars Idol Contest

The primary objective of the South Sulphur Regional Development Association is to bring visitors to Northeast Texas and enhance the economic activity of the region through tourism. The Association is a Texas non-profit and a 501(c)3 under IRS regulations.

The primary emphasis is developed around an educational and cultural venue, the Cooper Lake Center; being built on 122 acres at Cooper Lake. The project is in cooperation with the Corps of Engineers and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the location is sub-leased. The site will be the home of a 1,500 seat amphitheater, an education center, a restored log house from the mid-1800s, a farm depicting mid-1800 and early 1900 agriculture methods and buildings and a native American village. The remainder of the Center property will be dedicated to native flowers and shrubs and demonstration plantings including one or more nature trails. The common thread running throughout the project is NATURE.
