Cooper
Lake Center Phases One and Two

Phase 1
Native
flowers, shrubs and trees will be enhanced
by walkways and other low impact displays
that are designed to show why the area is so rich in agriculture
past, present and future. This farming/garden area will present
beauty and education. Small areas of crops such as corn or cotton
will show past varieties as well as the new and improved. Native
flowers will bring a high concentration of beauty that will attract
visitors from the entire area and from across the nation.
Funds
are being raised for building an amphitheater.
Facilities surrounding the theater area
will also be used for other performances
and special events. Concessions, restrooms
and covered areas are part of the complex.
A multiuse building will be constructed
a short distance from the stage area
and be used for dressing rooms, offices,
temporary classrooms, and theater construction
of props and costumes.
Higher
education institutions will be contacted
to help develop all aspects of the program. From interactive educational
programs to selecting the seeds for agricultural comparison in the
farming area.
Phase 2
The
Center will tell the story of development
of the area from nature and Native Americans
to present day industry and agriculture. SSRDA
believes that education through experience will bring students to
the Center from elementary to Elderhostel. The Center will be a
place to experience and enjoy.
